On 4 September 2018 the Majerhat Bridge in Alipore collapsed resulting in the death of 3 people injuries to at least 25 others. After this tragedy the bridge is now being rebuilt and to be finished very soon: The Telegraph reports that the work of laying bitumen on the bridge will be completed by this week.
